Lenny, How's It Going?

Lenny, I guess at least the WH over there is OK, but I got no comments from you. Well, that's what happened after Nixon. Certainly can't blame the voters for disowning the act. The WH down in Dixieway is no place to be associated with until January 20th.

Hope you're still reading the blog & imagine you are. That WH we shared "made history," as Eric always put it to me. I fought the waves coming from the club across the street the whole time, until I managed to leave for my new job the very day before the Republican Convention. I felt like I had escaped ancient Rome in freefall just in time, and now it's as if we as a nation might escape the fate as well.

  1. Lenny, I'll slip in a pre-emptive quote. If you believed in Reagan, why give that up for the guy who owns the club across the street? It seems like a very simple equation that has escaped the whole Republican Party. How can the Party be so stupid? Reagan never came to the club across the street. He came to our club.

  2. Not quote. Comment. Weird mistake. There's no quote in the comment. What, was the spirit of Reagan talking into me?

  3. Bad news Bruce, spoke to Lenny today, he no longer reads the blog. Could not get a specific reason from him :( . The Don was no Ron for sure, but also was never given a real chance from day one. I will give the new gang a chance! In the mean time, lets go fishing!!!!! FM

    1. That's OK, Fred. As far as I'm concerned, I always knew Lenny was too much of a good thing, anyhow. God bless him. And blog readers loved him, as they do over there. I'm proud I worked over there regardless of anyone else but you & Eric, because not only did Eric hire me, that man really had class. I never told you, but I gave him a c.d. of my father's Washington National Cathedral choir, recorded when G.W. Bush came on occasion as my father performed. I figured it was just a token gift. I never expected Eric to actually listen to it. But that token is priceless.

And as for you & me & the club. You know I never would have got there without you. As you said, "the adventure begins." Right about when Trump announced he would run. Right when the club began to consider restoring the river and stocking those trout. Absolutely perfect timing. So I thank for that more than these words can say.

    2. I just looked it up to refresh my memory. Actually, I was hired some six months before Trump announced his run. I'm pretty sure you said that about the adventure long before, too. Wow, what a long, strange trip. Let's look to the restoration of America now.

    3. I should add. I never gave Trump a chance. For one reason, because I had heard reputable allegations of his stiffing contractors. I felt that if he did that, he should go to jail for it like anyone else. It was easy to myself in the contractor's shoes. Since 2012, when I met Trump, and shook his hand--while with the Bedminster Environmental Council--I've developed the habit of watching a lot more news. In 2012 & thereafter, I didn't know about Trump's Birtherism, the whole absurdity of his racist attack on Obama. Had I been informed, I would have refused to meet him. As you know, my realism is the lakes, rivers, ponds, and streams. Most people's is grounded in media. Well, now media is a habit for me, too. I did pay attention to the Trump development beginning in 2015, so it was more than the contractors, why I would never give him a chance. It was obvious to me by what he was saying about Mexicans, just to cite one example, that he's an intolerant pig, to speak frankly as we do, not the sort of species to lead the free world. Things aren't settled yet. I'm optimistic, which is why I can stand at a very high place and simply state that we can look to the restoration of the country, and I believe we will restore it, but the hope at ground level remains so slim--but that's what I believe in--that efforts will be very trying. Think of the hundreds of thousands of us who have died unnecessarily and how many more will die, and what violence may yet break out; I know you're enjoying retirement as you should, but there are millions out of work, and millions more who can't feel life in America is back to normal. And of the hundreds of thousands of dead, there are three or four or five times that number of loved ones stricken by their losses. Yeah, it's nice I can stand at the very summit of mankind and suggest we look to restore America. But that is easy compared to what it is like on the ground for so many. No President has ever been so destructive as Donald Trump, and it is absolutely nobody's fault but his own. You can't blame his enablers--nor the people who didn't give him a chance, whatever that means come to think of it now; if they gave him a chance we would all be dead I suppose--if a man is responsible for himself. And if a man is not responsible for himself alone, he certainly is not free.

    4. Insomnia sucks. After I try to make myself more clear, going to take Zolpidem, Ambien generic. My last sentence in the comment above would have it understood that to be responsible for oneself alone includes one's relationships. Why I can't sleep, because concerned about mine, and I hope I've made myself more clear.

    1. It was a hell of a job and it's a good thing I was there. Politics are screwed for sure, but the moral issues remain. If we were to regress to a truly amoral state, that would be the End. We would hear Jim Morrison's yawning out the word as our last moment. Fred, there's another spot down there. The lake in the middle of Tuckerton has bass. Kind of hope you get out and try some fishing this winter, but I know--it's winter.
