They stocked tiger muskies in Lake Musconetcong, for example, a situation my son & I don't like, but that's just as. Pickerel and bass were fully enough for us, and when the pickerel population crashed after chemical treatment for water chestnuts, we were saddened by it. But we like to see the bass still doing well, and for all we know, the pickerel are back by now, too. Haven't fished there in awhile.

Stocking Summary
What an interesting report. More Muskies to slice off my spinnerbaits at Furnace, LOL. The Northern Pike trading with other states has really expanded; I see they stopped stocking the Millstone. The robust Channel Cat stocking, especially Fry at Furnace, is amazing. Introducing Black Crappie to Merrill, nice. Heavy dose of Golden Shiners at RV; hopefully that will help the ailing large/smallmouth fishery. Fred
ReplyDeleteI think it is, too. I've heard for several years that the Millstone stocking is going to get nixed, so that doesn't surprise me. I have no idea why it never became a flourishing pike fishery, while the Passaic did. Those little bass at RV could use a boost somehow. I remember in 1978 they were not small. They averaged nearly two pounds.
